Cestas Bolivia

Cestas is active in Bolivia since 2002. The main projects carried out in the recent years are:

  • PlanSIA – Health Plan Andina de Integración
  • Andean Network of Maternal and perinatal health (health cooperation initiative between Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru)
  • Extension of the Andean Network of Maternal and perinatal health (health cooperation initiative between Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru)
  • Fores – Fortaleciendo las redes de salud
  • Master’s degree in Maternal and child health
  • Master’s degree in Public Health
  • University course of higher education in local health systems management
  • University course of higher education in the field of Epidemiology
  • University course of higher education in maternal and child health

In Bolivia Cestas was interested mostly in the strengthening of the health system in the field of maternal and perinatal health. With the project Fores has trained over 1,600 Health officials in 7 regions of the country and succeed in creation of a training system for skills development, according to the national standards for health care. In the context of family health and community health maternal and perinatal, in August 2014 Cestas has signed a new partnership agreement with the Plurinational State of Bolivia. Actions will be fund in part by the Bolivian State and partly by the World Bank through the Inter-American Bank. In Bolivia, among the other, Cestas collaborates with the Ministry of Health, with health services in 7 out of the 9 national departments, 15 public hospitals and major universities. The beneficiaries who have benefited from the training activities and actions to strengthen the public health system are more than 3,000 public officials and more than 200,000 women and infants.
