Cestas is active in Peru since 2001 and until today implemented 4 health cooperation projects:
- PlanSIA – Health Plan Andina de Integración
- Andean Network of Maternal and perinatal health (health cooperation initiative between Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru)
- Extension of the Andean Network of maternal and perinatal health (health cooperation initiative between Bolivia, Ecuador and Peru)
- Dignidad Pangoa
All projects have the objective of strengthening the national health system and health regional integration programs. Particular attention has been paid to the issues of maternal and perinatal health and support of policies for the improvement of health protocols and training of human resources within the public health system. The total number of health care workers and citizens who have benefited from our 4 health cooperation projects exceeds 226,000 people.
In Peru Cestas collaborated among others with the Ministry of Health; the Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos; various institutes of health (among them, the Instituto Nacional Materno Perinatal, the Hospital Goyeneche, the Regional Hospital, the Hospital Carmen de Huancayo, the Hospital Belén de Trujillo, the Las Mercedes de Chiclayo Hospital, the Hospital regional de Loreto); the Andean Health Organism – Convenio Hipolito Unanue; some local NGOs including Ideas Peru; some international organizations such as ECLAC and Sister Cities. Cestas is also a member of the Committee of the Italian NGO in Peru.
